Drug charges filed

against city man

Kenneth Czapracki, 19, of West Union Street, was arrested Sunday on drug
charges by city police.

Police said Czapracki was charged with possession of a controlled
substance, possession with intent to deliver and possession of drug
paraphernalia.

Police said Czapracki on Sunday night asked a friend to hold four
“bricks” of heroin, a 25-caliber pistol, 15 hypodermic needles, a box of
ammunition for the pistol and two rolls of cash with $1,900 in each roll.

Police say they intervened, seized the drugs and other items and
interviewed Czapracki. He admitted the items were his and admitted he was a
heroin dealer, according to police.

Police say the drugs were purchased in New Jersey and had a street value of
$6,000.

Czapracki was arraigned before District Justice Donald Whittaker of
Nanticoke and sent to the Luzerne County Correctional Facility.

A preliminary hearing is set for 10 a.m. Jan. 13 at Whittaker’s office.

Robbery suspect

sought by police

Police are seeking a man who robbed a borough convenience store Monday
evening.

Police said a male suspect entered the Turkey Hill Minit Market at 241 W.
Main St. at about 6:45 p.m., walked to the counter and brandished a small
black handgun, police said.

The suspect ordered the cashier to give him money from the register and
several cartons of cigarettes. He then ordered the cashier to lay on the floor
as he fled, police said.

The suspect was described by police as a black male, about 6 feet tall,
weighing about 150 pounds and wearing a puffy black jacket with a gray hooded
sweatshirt underneath.

The suspect had the sweatshirt hood pulled tight around his face to conceal
his identity during the robbery, police said.
