The Pittston Area football team held its annual banquet on Jan. 26 at the Woodlands Inn & Resort in Plains.


Multiple awards were presented by assistant coach Gennaro Zangardi. Two-way player Michael Schwab, who did just about everything for the Patriots, was handed the Gerard Musto Sr. Award for the Most Valuable Player. The Letterman’s Club Unsung Hero Award was presented to multiple-position player Zach Hoffman. Quarterback James Emmett was awarded the Offensive Player of the Year.


Pittston Area finished 3-7 on the season, but capped the year with a 28-14 win over rival Wyoming Area. Offensive Player of the Year Emmett finished the season fifth in Wyoming Valley Conference Class AAA in passing with a QBR of 97.34.
