The Lady Patriots were honored on senior night and provided themselves with a 57-33 win over Coughlin.
Emilee Strubeck hit a pair of threes en route to her game-high 14 points. Julie Bidwell added 10 points, while Trish Nawrocki contributed eight points.
Seton Catholic also picked up a win, theirs against GAR, 46-41. Tina Durako paced the Eagles with 16 points. Seton Catholic hit 18-of-21 free throws in the win.
Pittston Area’s Jen Cefalo hit a game-winning shot in the final seconds as the Patriettes squeezed past Coughlin, 44-42, to improve to 5-1 in the WVC Division 1 race.
Cefalo scored Pittston’s last four points, eight in all, in the final minute of play. Denise Insogna led PA scorers with 15 points. Nicole Smith had nine points, while Carol Haas and patty Amico had six each.
Wyoming Area wrestlers split the week by taking down Bishop Hoban 42-26 to bring its season mark to 2-6-2.
The Warriors rode five pins en route to the win. WA 112-pounder Ed Gawelko got a pin in less than two minutes. Dave Chronowski followed for the Warriors with his own fall while John Coolbaugh gave the locals another six points when he picked up a pin.
Also garnering pins for Wyoming Area were Mark Bernosky and John Donato and 145 and 152 pounds, respectively.
The St. John’s boys basketball team won the first-half title of the WVC B Division with three win in a span of six days.
The Johnnies edged Dallas 53-52, and beat Crestwood 52-46 during the week. The Jacks posted an 8-1 record in the first half. The wins assured the Johnnies of at least a playoff for the league all-season championship.
