LUZERNE COUNTY – The Wyoming Valley Chapter of the American Red Cross hosts community blood drives throughout the month.
Donors who are 16 years of age or older, weigh at least 110 pounds and are in relatively good health may give blood every 56 days.

Blood drives are conducted at the Red Cross regional blood center, 29 New Commerce Blvd., Hanover Industrial Park, Tuesdays and Wednesdays, 1-6 p.m. and Thursdays, 1-7 p.m. Collections also take place every Monday from 9 a.m.-noon at the Hazleton Chapter House, 165 Susquehanna Blvd., Hazleton.

• Monday from noon to 6 p.m. at the Dallas American Legion. The double red unit is scheduled to be at this drive.
There will be a drawing from all donors of the Northeast Pennsylvania region in the month of December. Prizes include a 40-inch Sony Bravia HDTV LCD, three Apple iPod Shuffles, a Garmin GPS System and a digital camera.
HAZLETON – The Hazleton Health and Wellness Center will hold a flu shot clinic from 10 a.m.-4 p.m. today at the center. The vaccination is free for Medicare and Blue Cross of NEPA/First Priority Health; all others will be charged $18 payable by check or cash. HEALTH PEOPLE Attorney William P. Conaboy, president/chief operating officer of Allied Services, will be promoted to chief executive officer effective Jan. 1, 2010. The appointment followed the announcement that James L. Brady, current chief executive officer, will retire at the end of 2009.
Conaboy, who was promoted to president/chief operating officer in January 2009, has been employed with Allied Services since 1992, serving as general counsel. While his primary responsibilities have been to oversee legal affairs at Allied, he has also been involved in many of the health care system’s major initiatives. Conaboy has also been responsible for the Allied Services Skilled Nursing Center and Allied Terrace Assisted Living Facility.
