Nick Leon and Mike Werbin led the way for Wyoming Area.

The duo was able to knock off their Coughlin counterparts and secure a 4-1 gtennis win over the Crusaders Thursday.

Leon’s match, however, wasn’t the easiest. In three sets, he beat Coughlin’s Ben Manarski 6-2, 2-6, 6-4. Werbin had an easier time with John Jones, garnering the win 6-0, 6-1.

The doubles team of Aaron Carter and Tom Rose were 6-4, 6-2 winners over Mike Klimek and Pavel Svintolzelski. Ken Moran and Austin Alder came away with a 6-4, 7-6 (8) victory.

Wyoming Area will be back on their own green courts Monday against Berwick.

Dallas 3

Pittston Area 2

Pittston Area twins Trent Woodruff and Tyler Woodruff claimed two wins in the doubles portion against Dallas. But it was the Mountaineers doubles teams who proved to be the difference.

The pairs of Frank Bevevino and Anthony DeLuca, as well as Joe Bevevino and Cameron Tuck, came through with victories.

Trent Woodruff, playing as Pittston Area’s No. 1, took down Dallas’ Steve Wempa 6-3, 6-4. His brother Tyler was a 6-2, 6-2 winner over Frank Hoolihen.

The Patriots will be back in action when they travel to Wyoming Valley West Monday.
