WILKES-BARRE — Danny Sales and Christopher Dennis each finished with 10 kills for Coughlin in a 25-15, 25-18, 16-25, 25-14 home win over Dallas in Wyoming Valley Conference boys volleyball.

Bryce Mattson led the Mountaineers with nine kills and six blocks.

Nanticoke 3, Berwick 0

Matt Winters recorded 12 kills for the Trojans in a 25-8, 25-10, 25-12 win over Berwick.

Ed Lukowski paced Nanticoke with 21 assists.

Berwick’s Harsh Patel tallied seven assists.

Wyoming Valley West 3, Hanover Area 1

Wyoming Valley West overcame an early loss in extended play to take three sets in a row to win by scores of 26-28, 25-22, 25-10, 25-16.

The Spartans’ Mark Burridge posted a double-double with 22 kills and 10 digs. Nick Klimchok chalked up 29 digs and two blocks.

Holy Redeemer 3, Lake-Lehman 0

Holt Redeemer went on to win by scores of 25-12, 25-8, 25-6. John Carr contributed with seven blocks and Matt Nicholas had seven kills.

Charles Hennebaul blocked two shots for the Black Knights.


Alvernia 19, King’s 7

Catherine McMahon led King’s with three goals, and Gabriella Morrocu followed with two goals and one assist.

Amanda Harney contributed with one goal, one assist, three caused turnovers and six ground balls.

King’s goalie Courtney Stefanik made eight saves.


Cougars’ Johnson honored

Misericordia goalie Patrick Johnson was named Freedom Conference goalie of the week for the second consecutive week.

He recorded 13 saves and allowed just eight goals on the week. He had six saves and allowed just two goals in the Cougars’ victory at Rosemont. He also posted seven saves in the Cougars’ 10-5 loss to Swarthmore.


Moravian 10, Misericordia 4

Miles Westrich had two hits and two RBI. Max German added a pair of hits for the Cougars.

Dorosh wins again

Misericordia’s Ryan Dorosh was named the Freedom Conference Pitcher of the Week for the second consecutive week and third time this season.

The sophomore right-hander picked up his fourth win of the season in dominant fashion in a crucial 5-1 conference victory over DeSales. He tossed a complete game, allowing just one run on six hits. He struck out nine without walking a batter.


Wilkes 9, Arcadia 0

Wilkes opened Freedom Conference play with a shutout of Arcadia to remain undefeated on the year.

Steven Wilson won first singles 6-1, 6-0. Max Appello won 6-1, 6-2 in the No. 2 flight.

Kendra Croker won her first Freedom Conference matchup 6-0, 6-1 at No. 2. singles.

She teamed up with Taylor Hoffman to win second doubles 8-4.
