Brinley Sobeck struck out nine and only gave up two hits in earning the win and helping Nanticoke defeat Mountain Top, 2-1 on Tuesday in a District 16 Major Softball game.


Sobeck also had one of Nanticoke’s three hits, along with Emilee Bobos and Kelsi O’Connor.


Haley Naporkowski tripled for Mountain Top, while Cortney Dushawko added a single.

Back Mountain 18,


Kingston/Forty-Fort/West Side 8 (5 inn.)


Gianna Spaciano went 3 for 4 as Back Mountain prevailed in a slugfest. Megan Borton also had a perfect day at the plate going 4 for 4. Samantha Kern picked up the win.


Emily Hoaps went 3 for 4 for Kingston/Forty-Fort/West Side.


Greater Wyoming Area 5,


Harveys Lake/Northwest 0


Kari Melinberger threw a three-hit shutout for Greater Wyoming Area in the win. Brianna Pizano and Abby Gober also had two hits a piece.


Hunter Kline, Trista Babcock and Katie Bonzeweski each had a hit for Harveys Lake/Northwest.
