After one day of competition at Hershey Country Club, King’s and Wilkes are second and third, respectively, at the Freedom Conference Men’s Golf Championships.

Manhattanville leads the pack with a team score of 326, followed by the Monarchs at 332 and the Colonels at 334. Misericordia is in seventh place at 351.

Wilkes’ Matt Kachurak sits second on the leaderboard after shooting a 79, two strokes off the lead. The Monarchs’ Ryan Tracy shot an 80 to tie for third while Jamie Egan’s 82 led the Cougars.

The tournament concludes today.

BASEBALL

Cougars split twinbill

Misericordia beat Manhattanville 12-2 before falling to the Valiants 6-2.

Chris Boroch had three hits and three RBI in the opener while adding two hits in the nightcap.

Monarchs sweep FDU

Two strong pitching performances gave King’s 2-0 and 5-2 wins over FDU-Florham.

Andrew Fisher tossed a five-hit shutout with nine strikeouts in the opener while Ryan Gimbi also struck out nine while pitching into the seventh.

Wilkes drops two

The Colonels suffered a sweep at DeSales, losing 10-7 and 9-6.

Stephen Ruch led the Colonels on the day, going 5-for-7 with three doubles and two RBI over the two games.

SOFTBALL

Lady Monarchs sweep

King’s took two against FDU-Florham, winning 6-5 and 14-1.

Debra Renner came up with a pair of RBI singles in the opener while a five-run first fueled the win in the second game.

Cougars split finale

Misericordia earned a 14-2 five-inning win before losing 13-5 in five innings at Manhattanville.

Whitney Ellenberg hit two home runs and drove in five in the opener. Meg Hardy (first game) and Andi Veneziale (second game) also homered.

Wilkes earns split

The Lady Colonels lost 4-1 to DeSales in the first game of a doubleheader before earning a 7-3 win in the second.

Ally Paskas’ two-run double and Alex Hoops’ RBI single lifted Wilkes in game 2. Brooke Limeberry homered in the game 1.

WOMEN’S LACROSSE

Wilkes 25, Delaware Valley 7

In her final game, Wilkes senior Carley Smith broke the program’s all-time goals record after recording six goals and six assists against the Aggies. Tori Kerr also scored six times.

FDU-Florham 13,

Misericordia 11

Brooke North’s five goals topped the Cougars. Erin Baker and Melina Juliano added two goals and an assist each.

The Cougars are the No. 2 seed in the Freedom Conference tournament and will host King’s on Wednesday.

King’s 18, Manhattanville 9

Anastasia Araviakis and Gabriella Morrocu combined for 11 goals to lead the Lady Monarchs on the road. Araviakis had six goals and two assists while Morrocu scored five.

MEN’S LACROSSE

King’s 11, Manhattanville 4

The Monarchs’ win on senior day earned them a spot in the Freedom Conference tournament where they will face top-seeded Eastern on Wednesday. Reed Jimenez led the Monarchs with three goals.

Misericordia 9,

FDU-Florham 6

Brandon Winslow scored four goals as the Cougars clinched home-field advantage against the Devils for Wednesday’s Freedom semifinals.

WOMEN’S TENNIS

Misericordia 8, FDU-Florham 1

The Cougars won their fifth straight match and will host a Freedom Conference semifinal on Wednesday.
