Eddie Lukowski had 27 assists to go with his three kills, two blocks, three digs and two aces as Nanticoke beat Hazleton Area 3-0 on Tuesday in WVC boys volleyball play.

The Trojans won by scores of 25-12, 25-7, 25-12 to improve to 9-2 in the league.

Matt Winters recorded seven kills, five blocks and three digs, while Robert Burke chipped in with three kills and two blocks in the win.

Robert Zbierski turned in a match-high 18 kills as the Crusaders earned a 25-14, 25-23, 26-24 sweep at home.

Zbierski (6 blocks, 3 aces, 1 dig, 1 assist, 10 service points) was joined by Sal Purpura (22 assists, 3 kills, 2 digs, 2 aces, 1 block, 6 service points) and Kyle Williams (5 kills, 7 digs, 1 block, 3 service points) on the scoresheet.

Topping the Hawkeyes were Derek Brodginski (8 service points, 8 kills, 3 digs, 4 blocks), Jason Leiphart (6 service points, 10 kills, 6 digs, 3 blocks, 2 assists) and John Murphy (8 service points, 2 kills, 6 digs, 4 assists, 1 block).

BOYS LACROSSE

Crestwood 15, North Pocono 5

Andrew Bobynskyj and Jay Popson each had four goals and two assists as the Comets won on senior night.

Robert Coslett added three goals while Ryan Magin, Matt Madry, Joey Grandinetti, Josh Gentilesco and Austin Orso also scored. Bailey Bauman made eight saves.

Schuylkill River 24

The Wilkes-Barre Breakers topped Schuylkill River RFC on Saturday as Mark Barry, Steve Turner, J.B. Sly and Justin Seabridge spotted the Breakers a 34-12 lead at half. Jim Andruscevicz and John Van completed second period scoring.

Under coach Jack Bukowski, the Breakers finish spring match play with a 7-1-1 record with their only loss coming in the championship match of the Empire Tournament.

The Breakers next host the George Mihalchik Memorial match May 9 at Kirby Park followed by the fifth annual Breaker 7’s Tournament May 16 at the Luzerne County Rec Fields.
