GWA posts victory in state softball tournament

COATESVILLE — Stephanie Nowak knocked in the winning run with a bases-loaded single in the ninth inning as Greater Wyoming Area defeated Drexel 6-5 in the 9-10 softball state tournament.


Ellie Glatz started the rally with a double. Drexel walked the next to GWA batters to load the bases and set the table for Nowak’s winning hit.


Nowak also pitched two innings, striking out five.


Greater Wyoming Area is now 2-0 in pool play and will play again today at 7 p.m.


Cari Malberger had nine strikeouts in seven innings in the circle.


Also contributing for GWA were Nicole Silinskie with a single and a triple, Lily Harcen with two hits and Mackenzie Notchi with two hits.
