BULLETIN BOARD
   
Baseball
    Jenkins Township Little League will host the championship game between
Mondlak
   
Printery and Port Auto today at 7 p.m. at the Little League field. All
managers who have fund-raiser money to return must do so at this time or make

Plains Baseball will hold a meeting Sunday at 7 p.m. at the Perugia Club.
All officers, board members and coaches are urged to attend this meeting.

North End Baseball will hold its monthly meeting Thursday at 7 p.m. at the
North End Slovak Club. The meeting will include officer nominations for the
1997 season and the 1996 season-ending banquet. All coaches and parents are
urged to attend.
   
Basketball
   
Stan Waleski and Charles LoBrutto will conduct a girls basketball camp for
players entering sixth through ninth grades. The camp will be held at the
Oblates of St. Joseph’s gym during the weeks of July 22-26 and Aug. 5-9. The
fee is $45 per week with discounts for more than one player per family or for
attending multiple weeks. For information, contact coach Waleski at 457-1206

Registration will be held until Friday at 12:15 p.m. at the John S. Fine
High School gym for the Nanticoke Junior High Summer Basketball League. It is
open to any boy from the Nanticoke area entering grades six to nine. The
league will begin Sunday, July 28 and run through Aug. 28 with weekly games
being played at the Newport Township RecreationPark in Wanamie.
   
Camps
   
Stan Waleski will conduct a combination basketball/soccer camp for children
entering grades K-3 at the Oblates of St. Joseph’s gym. The camps will be run
in three sessions during the weeks of July 22-26, July 29-Aug. 2 and Aug. 5-9.
Fee is $45 a week, and discounts are available. For information, call coach

Cycling
   
Cedar BMX Park, in Newton Township, is now accepting new registrations to
the American Bicycle Association. The park is open to boys and girls of all
ages. Racing is held every Thursday and Saturday evening. Practice is held
Tuesday evenings. For information, call Kevin Czekalski at 829-0924.
   
Football
   
The Wilkes-Barre Bears Junior Football Organization will hold a meeting
Wednesday at 7 p.m. at the Hollenback Golf Course Community Room. Final
arrangements will be made for the chicken barbecue on July 26. Those
interested in being advisors for the A or C team cheerleaders are welcome. All
coaches, advisors and parents are urged to attend.

The Swoyersville Sailors will hold final registration for football players
and cheerleaders ages 6-13 on Saturday from noon to 2 p.m. at Roosevelt Field.
Registration is open to all children residing in Swoyersville, Luzerne,
Courtdale and Pringle. First-time registrants must bring a copy of a birth
certificate and a current photo.

The GAR Football Booster Club will meet Thursday at 8 p.m. at the Eagles.
All parents of football players and cheerleaders and anyone else interested
are welcome.
   
Golf
   
The Octagon Bar Golf Tournament will be held Sunday at 9 a.m. at Mill Race
in Benton. Members of the golf club may sign up to play by attending the
meeting Thursday at 7:30 p.m. at the Octagon Bar in Plymouth. Members may also
call the Octagon Bar at 779-3957 between 6 and 7:30 p.m. on the night of the
meeting.

The North End-East End Little League will hold its second annual golf
tournament Saturday at Hollenback Golf Course beginning at 7:30 a.m. Format
will be a three-man captain and crew. Cost will be $35 per person and will
include a sleeve of balls, cash prizes to all flight winners, door prizes and
post-tournament dinner at the North End Slovak Club. For information, call

Harness Racing
   
The Harness Racing Retirement and Youth Association will hold its third
annual Youth Harness Racing Camp, Saturday, July 27 at 9 a.m. at the Six D
Stables, Bloomsburg. The camp is open to all youth age 8 and older. There is a
$5 charge for materials and a bag lunch is recommended. Parents may

Outdoors
   
Ricketts Glen State Park announced its activity schedule for Friday,
Saturday and Sunday. On Friday at 4 p.m. at Lake Rose, there will be a nature
walk with the theme of “Tales from the Painter’s Den.” The Maintenance
Building Evening Program, starting at 8 p.m., will be “Wildflower Folklore.”
On Saturday at 4 p.m. at Lake Jean, the nature walk theme will be “Folklore of
the Lake.” The Maintenance Building Evening Program, at 8 p.m., will be
“Wetland Resources.” On Sunday at 10 a.m. at Falls Trail, the nature walk
theme will be “Geology of the Glens.”

The Pennsylvania Fish and Boat Commission’s boat access at Harveys Lake
will be closed the week of July 29. The access will be closed to allow the
Commission to seal the parking lot.

Physicals
   
Physical exams for all GAR High School junior and senior high athletes will
be given by Dr. George Moses on Tuesday, July 23 at 6 p.m. at the Stanton
Street Football Field. All athletes participating in football, field hockey,
boys soccer, girls volleyball, cheerleading and cross country must attend.
Signed PIAA eligibility cards must be presented at the physical by each
athlete. Eligibility cards may be obtained from coaches or at the main office
of GAR High School between 8 a.m. and 12:30 p.m. on weekdays. All coaches
should attend the physical.

Physicals for Bishop O’Reilly fall sports teams will be given at Dr.
Smedley’s office, 480 Pierce St., Kingston. The days and times for each team
are: field hockey, Wednesday at 2:30 p.m. and Thursday at 4 p.m.; football,
Friday at 2:30 p.m.; cross country, Wednesday at 4 p.m. for girls, and
Thursday at 2:30 p.m. for boys, and 4 p.m. for girls; soccer, Wednesday at 4
p.m. and Friday at 2:30 p.m.; golf, Wednesday at 4 p.m. and Friday at 2:30
p.m.; and junior high soccer, Thursday at 2:30 p.m. Physical forms may be
picked up at the doctor’s office or at the high school office.
   
Powerlifting
   
The American Drug Free Powerlifting Association will hold its annual
deadlift nationals Aug. 4 at the Ramada Hotel, Wilkes-Barre. The competition
is drug tested, and open to all drug free competitors. Divisions are available
for women, men and teens. Competition starts at 9 a.m., and the public is

Soccer
   
There will be a meeting for any boys from grades 9-12 interested in playing
soccer at Bishop O’Reilly on Thursday at 7 p.m. at the school.
