MOOSIC – There was a Major League feel to Friday night’s game at PNC Field.

Unfortunately for the RailRiders, that experience came at their expense.

Three Rochester players who all have significant experience in the Majors – Mike Pelfrey, Josh Willingham and Oswaldo Arcia – helped the Red Wings hammer Scranton/Wilkes-Barre, 7-1.

Pelfrey, the former Mets pitcher who is on a rehab assignment for the Twins, pitched five shutout innings for the Red Wings, allowing four hits and two walks. He is recovering from a groin strain and has 55 career wins in the big leagues. He didn’t have any strikeouts, but his sinker was heavy and he got eight ground outs.

“He commanded his pitches very well,” RailRiders outfielder Antoan Richardson said. “His sinker was moving. It started off the plate and moved back to the corners. He looked really good.”

Willingham, who is also on a rehab assignment for Minnesota working his way back from a left wrist injury, scored the Red Wings’ first run of the game when he doubled in the second then scored on a bases-loaded walk.

Willingham, who has 181 career Major League homers, was just getting started. He clubbed a two-run homer in the top of the third, putting Rochester in front 3-0 on his first longball in his seven rehab games with Rochester.

Arcia, who has played 101 games in the Majors with the Twins since 2013, went 3 for 5 with four RBI. He crushed a three-run homer in the fourth to give the Red Wings a 6-0 lead. The outfielder, who hit 14 homers last year for the Twins, came through again in the fifth when he hit a ground-rule double to knock in another run and give his team a 7-0 lead.

“He’s a guy that when you play with him you love him and if you’re on the other team you might not like him as much,” said Richardson, who played for Rochester last season and was teammate with Arcia.

Rochester, which has now won nine of its last 10 games, outhit the RailRiders 11-6, despite getting just one hit after the fifth. That’s because the SWB bullpen did another good job as Mark Montgomery, Danny Burawa, Diego Moreno and Pat Venditte combined to pitch five innings and allow just one run.

RailRiders right-hander Brian Gordon had his shortest outing of the season lasting just four innings and allowing six runs on eight hits.

Scranton/Wilkes-Barre finally got a run in the bottom of the sixth when Ramon Flores led off with his third homer of the season. Flores also had a double. While the team had three players who had multiple-hit games, they were the only three to get hits. Flores was the only one to have an extra-base hit. Scott Sizemore (2 for 4) and Richardson (2 for 2) each accounted for a pair of singles.
