The first day of 2016 will be accompanied by partly sunny skies and a westerly wind.
As of 7 a.m. Friday, the National Weather Service indicated a 34 degree temperature at the Wilkes-Barre/Scranton International Airport.
The change of the calender year, is bringing a change from the balmy temperatures; Friday is expected to have a wind gust between 8 and 10 miles per hour and be on the cooler side, a high around 36 degrees. Friday night will be partly cloudy, a low around 26.
As we move into the weekend, Saturday and Sunday look to be sunny, with highs in the middle 30s and lows around 25. Sunday afternoon may bring a chance of a snow shower after 1 p.m.
Colder temperatures but sunshine continue into the first full week of 2016, with Monday bringing a high of 29 and an overnight low dipping into the teens.
