WEST CHESTER, Pa. (AP) — Trial is scheduled to begin in April for a Philadelphia-area man charged along with a woman in what authorities call the torture death of the woman’s 3-year-old son.

The Daily Local News of West Chester (http://bit.ly/2cwndZG ) reports that the attorney for Gary Lee Fellenbaum III said Friday that he hoped to consolidate the case with that of co-defendant Jillian Tate.

But Tate’s attorney said he expected a plea and chances of her going to trial were “well less than 50-50.”

Chester County authorities allege that Scott McMillan was hung upside down and beaten with a frying pan before his November 2014 death in the family’s mobile home in Coatesville. Officials allege that the couple went shopping and ate pizza as the boy lay dying after weeks of escalating abuse.
