SALT LAKE CITY (AP) — The Latest on a shooting by Salt Lake City police and unrest downtown following the shooting (all times local):

10:20 a.m.

A Utah police department is investigating a Saturday night shooting by Salt Lake City police that injured one man and triggered hours of unrest in a downtown neighborhood.

Unified Police Det. Ken Hansen says two Salt Lake City officers were called to break up a fight and found a male hitting someone with a broomstick.

Hansen says the male tried to attack one of the officers and one or both of the officers shot the male twice in the torso.

Hansen did not have details about the male’s identity or age, but said he was in critical condition early Sunday. A witness told The Salt Lake Tribune that the male was a teenager and friend.
