To report anonymous tips, call 208-8900. KINGSTON – The Citizens Advisory Commission will meet on these dates this year: Feb. 11, March 10, April 14, May 12, June 9, Sept. 8, Oct. 13, and Nov. 10. The commission will not meet in July and August.
HARRISBURG – Municipal recycling programs that boost Pennsylvania’s economy and protect its environment are invited to apply for the latest round of recycling development and implementation grants.
To be eligible for recycling development and implementation grants, applicants must submit a plan that includes actions and strategies for optimizing a program’s self-sufficiency.
The plan should include strategies for reducing costs and generating revenues, provisions for establishing waste reduction and recycling incentives, mechanisms for public outreach and stakeholder input and methods to document progress.
Grants of up to $500,000 are available, and applications must be received or postmarked by June 20. Funding priorities for the program include:
• Incentive-based pricing and collection programs designed to increase the quantities and types of recyclable materials, and reduce the quantity of waste collected.
• Curbside, residential collection vehicles that utilize alternatives or supplements to petroleum for fuel.
• Multi-municipal collection, processing and materials marketing programs.
• Equipment and education programs to collect and/or process fibrous materials such as corrugated cardboard, junk mail and mixed paper that currently is not included in the applicant’s recycling program.

KINGSTON – The municipality of Kingston’s Civil Service Commission announced a newly revised schedule for 2008.
The commission will meet on the third Friday of every month at 10 a.m. in council chambers in the Kingston Municipal Building, 500 Wyoming Ave., Kingston.
EXETER – The recycling containers with lids are available for pickup at the borough building, 1101 Wyoming Ave., Exeter. They are to be used for junk mail and newspapers.
Containers can be picked up Monday through Friday from 9 a.m. to 3 p.m. and Wednesdays from 3 to 7 p.m. Only one per household will be given out.
All garbage must be in cans or a plastic garbage bag. Boxes with garbage in them are not being accepted.
Also, no bulk items will be taken unless arrangements are made with the waste hauler.
There is a three-bag limit.
Garbage stickers are now on sale. The cost of the sticker is $95 for seniors 62 and older. To receive the discount, proof of age is required.
All other residents must pay $130. It is mandatory to purchase a garbage sticker in Exeter.
A reminder for landlords and new landlords, it is a requirement to keep the borough updated on any new tenants. Forms are available at the borough building or by calling Lynda at 654-3001, ext. 2.
It is also mandatory for businesses in Exeter to recycle. Stickers can be purchased for recycling during refuse hours. Recycling stickers are $130 per year.
KINGSTON TWP. – The Kingston Township Board of Supervisors is now accepting letters of interest for a vacancy on the Kingston Township Zoning Hearing Board, effective Jan. 1, 2008.
The five-member zoning hearing board has specific duties under the Pennsylvania Municipalities Planning Code and Township Ordinance regarding zoning and land use issues.
The board meets once per month. Basic knowledge of zoning laws and/or land use is helpful, but not required. This appointed position is non-paying.
Township residents interested in this position should send a letter of interest to the Kingston Township Board of Supervisors, 180 E. Center St., Shavertown. Letters of interest should be considered if received by March 3, 2008.

WEST WYOMING – Sanitation stickers are now on sale at the town hall on weekdays between 8 a.m. and 4 p.m.
All residents in West Wyoming must purchase a sticker. The cost remains the same as last year, $200. If purchased before Feb. 28, senior citizens (65 and older) will receive a $25 rebate. All others will receive $15.
If purchased from March 1 through March 31, 2008, the full price will be charged, $200. After March 31, the cost will be $225 for the year, and citations will be filed with the district judge for noncompliance with the ordinance.
This fee allows residents a weekly three-container collection, monthly bulk-item pickup, weekly recycling, and the curbside yard waste composting and leaf program.
Stickers are also available through the mail at West Wyoming Borough Building, 464 West 8th Street, P.O. Box 4035, West Wyoming, PA 18644. For the added convenience of residents, Visa, MasterCard and MAC are accepted.
