Noah Zurad has a way of making things add up.
The Holy Redeemer soccer team captain made his years of experience result in district runner-up placement and a spot on the all-star team.
His first attempt at drama led to him landing a second male lead role.
And he made years of advanced math study add up to a place among the finalists in the Mathematics category.
“Math is a subject that I find myself enjoying on a daily basis, even in advanced placement calculus,” Zurad said.
His outstanding scores on standardized math and college placement tests are an objective way to gauge his accomplishments, but even more telling is how he’s learned to integrate his math proficiency into his life.
In his early high school days, he was selected for the Summer Institute for the Gifted where he studied math and participated in an entrepreneurship class.
“I found that the practices of business creation and growth closely parallel the problem-solving methods of math,” Zurad said.
Building on this discovery, Zurad has continued to take business courses along with multiple math classes each school year to prepare for a career in finance.
Zurad also made time for community service projects.
For the last three years, he’s been part of the “We’ve Got Your Back” backpack campaign, which raises money to purchase new backpacks for more than 1,000 local underprivileged students.
Zurad will use his work ethic and what he learned from experiences like the backpack project as he pursues a career in finance and possibly law.
