The American Heart Association invites the Wilkes-Barre and Luzerne County communities to ignite a passion for fighting heart disease and stroke at the 2013 Luzerne County Kentucky Derby Party, Saturday, May 4 at 6 p.m. at the Westmoreland Club, 59 S. Franklin St., Wilkes-Barre. Kathleen Dunsmuir and Barbara Toczko-Maculloch will chair this year’s event.
Kathleen Dunsmuir is senior vice present and team director for PNC Wealth Management, where she has worked for 35 years. She currently serves on the boards of Leadership Wilkes-Barre, Osterhout Library, CYC of Wilkes-Barre and Wyoming Valley Children’s Association. Dunsmuir is also a committee member for North Branch Land Trust, the Blind Association, Family Services Association, Maternal and Family Health and the American Red Cross.
Barbara Toczko Maculloch is senior vice president and sales manager for First Liberty Wealth Management in Pennsylvania. She joined First Liberty Wealth Management in March 2011. She previously served as the manager of private banking for two other large banking institutions in northeast Pennsylvania. Toczko Maculloch’s community involvement includes membership on the boards of Luzerne County Community College, F.M. Kirby Center for the Performing Arts, Leadership Wilkes-Barre and Circle 200. She has previously held board positions on the Osterhout Free Library, Greater Wilkes-Barre Chamber of Commerce, St. Vincent DePaul Kitchen and the Wyoming County United Way.
The Luzerne County Kentucky Derby Party is an annual event to raise funds for the American Heart Association. The evening includes dinner, dancing, a silent and live auction, and other activities. John “Jack” McCarthy Sr. will serve as this year’s heart and stroke ambassador. He will speak about his experience as a heart and stroke survivor and the importance of advancing heart and stroke care.
