Cooler temperatures and the chance for showers and thunderstorms will stick around the Wyoming Valley for most of the weekend.

The National Weather Service indicated it was 68 degrees as of 6:54 a.m. at the Wilkes-Barre/Scranton International Airport, and overcast skies were reported.

Mostly cloudy skies are expected today, with a high near 79.

Cloudy skies will follow into tonight, along with a slight chance of showers between 9 p.m. and 11 p.m. There will also be a chance of showers and thunderstorms after 11 p.m. Less than a tenth of an inch of rain is expected, and tonight’s low will be around 60.

Showers will be likely before 1 p.m. Friday, along with a possible thunderstorm. Showers and thunderstorms will also be possible after 1 p.m. Up to a quarter of an inch of rainfall is expected, and Friday’s high will be near 74.

Mostly cloudy skies are predicted for Friday night, along with a chance of showers before 2 a.m. The low will be around 63.

Cloudy skies are expected on Saturday, along with a 40 percent chance of showers and thunderstorms. The high will be near 82.

Those cloudy skies will follow into Saturday night, along with a 30 percent chance of showers and thunderstorms. The low will be around 68.

Partly sunny skies will wrap up the weekend on Sunday, along with a 40 percent chance of showers and thunderstorms. The high will be near 86.

Mostly cloudy skies will carry over into Sunday night, along with a 50 percent chance of showers and thunderstorms. The low will be around 69.
