As a way to inform senior citizens about the variety of public and private programs and services available, Reps. Karen Boback (R-Columbia/Luzerne/Wyoming) and Sandra Major (R-Susquehanna/Wayne/Wyoming) will host a Senior Expo from 10 a.m. to2 p.m. on Thursday, Aug. 22 at the Triton Hose Co., located along West Tioga Street in Tunkhannock.

At the expo, seniors will have the opportunity to learn more about services, activities and information available throughout the region.

Exhibitors will include area health care professionals, insurance providers and other state and local agencies and organizations. Health-related screenings, including those for hearing, glaucoma and blood pressure, will also be offered, along with mini break-out sessions on senior legal issues by local attorneys, fraud and identity theft by the Office of the Attorney General and senior programs by the Area Agencies on Aging.

In addition, the group, Grandparents Raising Grandchildren, is one of the more than 30 organizations and agencies that will be represented and will have information geared for grandparents who are raising their grandchildren.

There is no cost to attend and light refreshments will be served.
