FACTORYVILLE – The annual outdoor Christmas market that was held at Christy Mathewson Park has been canceled this year due to COVID-19. In lieu of this event, the Factoryville Fire Hall will house a Holiday Market, which will be held this Saturday, December 5 from 9am to 4pm. A large variety of local vendors will be there to provide gift ideas for people shopping for the holidays. Father Christmas (Santa’s father) will attend to greet the customers.

“My neighbor, Dianne Mitchell and I decided to do this fair in response to Factoryville Borough’s cancellation of the Christmas Market weekend, typically held for the first weekend in December,” said Factoryville resident Missey Bower. “We booked the Fire Company so as to provide safe spaces for shopping while giving vendors a place to sell the merchandise they crafted during the closures.”

Purple Pepper Farms, located in Dalton, will be on-hand to vend their jams, signature sauces, and CBD products. The farm will also have seasonal items including wreaths, table-top Christmas trees, and holiday swag.

Juliana Muta, of Greenfield Township, makes wreaths and home decor signs out of her house in Greenfield Township. Her small business is called Jules’ Wreath Boutique. She will vend her creations at the holiday market.

“I personalize each of my creations and hand-pick the items they are created with,” she said.

Kristy Moher, of Clarks Green, focuses on laser-cut ornaments, which she makes for her business called Weekend Crafter.

Other local businesses include: Keystone College Glass, Lou Jasikoff Gems & Jewelry, Ann Miner Designs, Lularoe/Katie Lane, Bayberry Wishes, Molly’s Bowtique, Cervine Ceramics, VK Dare To Be Original, Marshbrook Studios, Case Quattro Winery, and Damiani Coffee.

“Our goal was to give vendors from the market and others a place to sell their handiwork before the holiday as many crafted throughout the shutdown and had a lot of inventory to sell,” said Bower.

Lunch will be provided for purchase by the Ladies Auxiliary. Proceeds will benefit the Factoryville Fire Company. Masks are required and social distance will be enforced.
