William Gracely

    William John Gracely, 74, of Glen Burnie, Md., formerly of Odenton, Md.,
and
   
Louisville, Ky., died Tuesday at Chesapeake Manor Nursing home following a
lengthy illnessHe was born in Wilkes-Barre on Feb. 12, 1920, and was educated
in the Wilkes-Barre catholic schools.
   
He was a master sergeant in the U.S. Army, retiring in 1971 after 30 years
in service.
   
He served in World War II during the Pearl Harbor attack.
   
He was a member of the American Legion, Elks Lodge, Veterans of Foreign
Wars and Survivors of Pearl Harbor.
   
Surviving are his wife of 47 years, Mildred E. Ashby Gracely, Arnold, Md.;
sons, Richard Witcher, Arnold, Md.; Wayne Witcher, Biglerville; daughter,
Barbara Atkinson, Millersville, Md.; twin sister, Betty McGee, Shamokin;
sister, Margaret Balz, Wilkes-Barre; two grandchildren; four
great-grandchildren.
   
Friends may call from 2 to 4 and 7 to 9 p.m. today and Sunday.
   
Funeral services will be at 12:30 p.m. Monday at the Singleton Funeral Home
Chapel with the Rev. John Kelly, officiating.
   
Interment will be in the Arlington National Cemetery.
   
Arrangements are under the direction of the Singleton Funeral Home, Glen
Burnie, Md.
