    Joseph Paul Getch of Pimlico Court, Fairfax, Va., and formerly of Plains
   
Avenue, Ashley, died Monday afternoon in the Fairfax Hospital, Falls
Church,
   
VaBorn Jan. 23, 1919, in Ashley, he was the son of the late Jacob and Mary
Yusko Getch.
   
He attended Ashley schools and resided in Ashley before moving to Jersey
City, N.J., in 1941. Later, he returned to the area and lived on Wilson
Street, Wilkes-Barre, for 12 years before moving to Fairfax, Va., in 1992.
   
He was a U.S. Army Air Corps veteran of World War II, serving as a corporal
in the Air Transport Division with the 695th Air Materiel Squadron from 1942
to 1945. He served in the Normandy, Rhineland and Ardennes campaigns.
   
He was employed for 35 years as a rigger master by Central Railroad Co.,
New Jersey. He was a former member of Holy Rosary Church, Ashley, and a member
of the Senior Citizen clubs of St. Dominic’s Church, Wilkes-Barre, and St.
Mary’s Church, Fairfax, Va.
   
He and his wife, the former Alice Graham, celebrated their 54th wedding
anniversary in January.
   
He was preceded in death by his brothers, Stephen and Paul Getch; sisters,
Anna Getch and Mary McQuade.
   
Surviving in addition to his wife, are his son, Joseph Getch Jr., Fairfax,
Va.; a brother, John Getch, Fort Meyers, Fla.; a sister, Susan Machinski,
Wilkes-Barre; a grandson, Joseph; one great-granddaughter.
   
Funeral services will be at 10 a.m. Thursday in St. Mary’s Mausoleum
Chapel, Hanover Township.
   
Interment will be in St. Mary’s Cemetery, Hanover Township.
   
Friends may call from 9:30 a.m. until time of services Thursday.
   
Funeral arrangements are by the George A. Strish Inc. Funeral Home, 105 N.
Main St., Ashley.
