SPONSORS COMPUTER CONTEST — The Computer Club of Bishop Hoban High School
in Wilkes-Barre will conduct its fifth annual Computer Contest beginning at 9
a.m. on Wednesday. The contest is open to any team of eighth grade students
from public or private schools. Each team, consisting of four students, will
work together to solve six programs in the BASIC or QBASIC language. Prizes
and certificates will be awarded. Interested schools are asked to contact Ann

INTERNATIONAL CLUB SETS FASHION SHOW — The International Club at College
Misericordia will hold an International Fashion Show Tuesday featuring The
Northeast Pennsylvania Academy of Dancing, Emerald Isle Dance Group and
students modeling fashions from around the world. The show will begin at 8
p.m. in Walsh Auditorium. The event is free and open to the public. Club

    PP&L DONATES SEEDLINGS FOR EARTH DAY — The Pennsylvania Power and Light
Company (PP&L) will donate several hundred Douglas fir seedlings to Earth Day
1996, a program sponsored by Wilkes University and King’s College. The event
is scheduled to be held on Friday in the Kirby Park Natural Area and Nesbitt
Park. Seedlings will be distributed to area high school, junior high and
elementary school students to strengthen their awareness about the future of

O’REILLY STUDENTS TO COMPETE AT CONFERENCE — Eight members of the Bishop
O’Reilly Chapter of the Future Business Leaders of America and Chapter Adviser
Sharon Obuhosky will attend the 1996 Pennsylvania State Leadership Convention
Monday through Wednesday at Seven Springs Resort and Convention Center,
Champion. Maureen Paley, Shavertown, will compete in public speaking; Katie
O’Brien, Dallas, business math; Alma DeRojas, Dallas, business communication;
Jillian Obuhosky, Dallas, FBLA principles and procedures and will represent
Region 16 of FBLA as regional secretary; Christine Hall, Wyoming, information
processing concepts and will serve as conference delegate; Amy Bustin,
Larksville, business procedures and will serve as conference delegate; Matthew
Mitarnowski, Forty Fort, introduction to parliamentary procedures; Mark

HOLY TRINITY YOUTH GROUP PERFORMS IN STATIONS OF THE CROSS — The Youth
Service Group of Holy Trinity Parish in Swoyersville recently presented the

GOOD SHEPHERD WOMEN RECEIVE DONATION — The Women of the Evangelical
Lutheran Church in America, Good Shepherd Lutheran Church, Wilkes-Barre,
recently received $450 from Lutheran Brotherhood, a fraternal benefit society,
through the Society’s Congregational Matching Funds Program. The money will be
sent to the National Women of ELCA to aid women and children in poverty as
well as the worldwide ELCA ministries. Shown at the presentation, from left,

GOOD SHEPHERD TO HOST ANNUAL CONVENTION — The Church of the Good Shepherd,
Polish National Catholic, Plymouth, will host the Annual Convention of the
United Women’s Societies for the Adoration of the Most Blessed Sacrament on
Saturday, May 4. Registration will begin at 9 a.m. and the opening Mass will
be celebrated at 10 by The Rt. Rev. Anthony M. Rysz, bishop ordinary, Central
