EXETER — An Exeter woman was in guarded condition in Wilkes-Barre General
Hospital after accidentally being shot once in the back Tuesday morning in her
apartment.
Marie Scoble, 33, of Wyoming Avenue sustained a .22-caliber pistol wound to
the middle of her back at about 11 a.m. Her husband, Paul Scoble, apparently
shot his wife while he was cleaning the weapon, police said.
Scoble was taken to the hospital where she was listed in guarded condition
in the intensive care unit Tuesday night.
Paul Scoble called police and ambulance personnel and told them his wife
had been shot, said Exeter Police Chief John McNeil. McNeil said no charges
have been filed in the shooting.
