    Louise Wilkie Van Riper, 76, of Carefree, Ariz. died Monday at Scottsdale
Health Care Hospital, Scottsdale, Ariz.
   
Born Sept. 3, 1922, in Glen Lyon, Newport Township, she was a daughter of
the late Louis and Kathryn Gronka Wilkie.
   
She was a graduate of Newport High School; Bucknell University Junior
College; Pennsylvania State University, with a degree in mathematics; and
Rensselaer Polytechnical Institute, Troy, N.Y. where she studied to become a
junior engineer as part of the Curtiss-Wright Cadet program during World War
II.
   
She was employed as a junior engineer for the Curtiss-Wright Corp., New
Jersey for more than 15 years, doing stress analyses on airplane propellers.
   
She lived in Denville, N.J. where she was employed by Haverly Systems,
Inc., and after 20 years of service, retired in 1987 as the company’s vice
president of system support.
   
She moved to Arizona and was employed for several years by Syntellect Inc.,
Phoenix as a software system tester.
   
She was preceded in death by her brother, Dr. Louis Wilkie.
   
Surviving are her son, Robert C. Van Riper Jr., Phoenix; daughter, Ellen M.
Van Riper, Carefree, Ariz.; sister, Jean Durkas, Gainesville, Ga.; and
brother, Dr. William Wilkie Sr., Dallas.
   
A Mass of Christian Burial will be at 10 a.m. Monday at St. Adalbert’s
Church, Glen Lyon.
   
Interment will be in St. Michael’s Cemetery, Glen Lyon.
   
Friends may call from 2 to 5 p.m. Sunday at the Metcalfe & Shaver Funeral
Home Inc., 504 Wyoming Ave., Wyoming.
