ASHLEY- Police are investigating the death of a 2 1/2-year-old girl found
in an Ashley Street home early Sunday, but are releasing little information
about the probe.

Dominique Thomas was pronounced dead at 3:50 a.m. in Wilkes-Barre’s Mercy
Hospital, Luzerne County District Attorney Peter Paul Olszewski Jr. said.
The District Attorney’s office is aiding the Ashley Police Department in
its investigation of the death, but neither side has ruled the case
suspicious.

Thomas and her mother, 21-year-old Tamira Chapman, lived in a home on Main
Street, police said. It was unclear what the toddler was doing in the home on
Ashley Street.

An autopsy is expected to be completed this morning, Luzerne County deputy
coroner Joe Shaver said.
