There is no word on when an attorney will complete his investigation of
Luzerne Intermediate Unit Executive Director Kevin O’Connor.

The LIU Board of Directors placed O’Connor on a paid leave of absence May
10, pending an investigation into concerns about the agency’s operation. It
named LIU vocational coordinator Michael Ostrowski as substitute executive
director.
Attorney Stephen Russell of York, hired by the board to conduct the probe,
has not said much about the investigation.

“I’m doing my work and I’m progressing on it,” he said recently.

He preferred not to elaborate on whether O’Connor would be returning to his
job. He did not know how much longer the investigation would take. “I don’t
have a deadline.”

O’Connor remains on paid leave, able to collect paychecks from his annual
salary of $92,906. That translates into about $16,000 during the nine weeks
since he was placed on leave.

O’Connor’s contract expires at the end of 2001.
