Ellis W. Hoover, 81, of Outlet section of Lake Township, died Wednesday, Nov. 15, 2006, at ManorCare Health Services, Kingston.
Mr. Hoover was born at Harveys Lake, Dec. 11, 1924, and was the son of the late Russell and Elsie (Sorber) Hoover. He graduated from Lake Township High School, class of 1944. He was a member of the Outlet Free Methodist Church and served on the Lake-Lehman School Board for 6 years. Mr. Hoover was employed by Royer Foundry, Kingston, and later at the Bloomsburg Mills, Dallas, retiring from Air Products Inc., Hanover, in 1986, after 29 and a half years.
Ellis was a man who had a zest for life and enjoyed being with people, taking a personal interest in their lives. His chief goal was to glorify God, enjoy His blessings and abide with Him forever. He was preceded in death by a brother, Warren.
Surviving are his wife of 59 years, the former Edith Smith; a daughter, Sandra Elderkin, her husband, Richard, Attleboro, MA; sisters Joyce Hoover, Faith Dinger, both of Outlet; grandsons Richard Ellis Elderkin and his wife, Laura; Russell Winerford Elderkin; great-grandson Caleb Richard Elderkin: several nieces and nephews.
Funeral will be held Saturday at 11 a.m. from the Curtis L. Swanson Funeral Home Inc., corner of routes 29 and 118, Pikes Creek, with Rev. James P. Shields officiating.
Interment will be in the Idetown Cemetery, Lehman Township.
Friends may call 6 to 9 p.m. on Friday. The family requests that in lieu of flowers, memorial contributions be sent to the Outlet Free Methodist Church Memorial Fund, 531 Lehman-Outlet Road, Dallas, PA 18612.
