Last week 13 archers from the Archery Zone in Larksville headed to the Pennsylvania State Archery Association Indoors Championship in Harrisburg.
What they came back with is pretty impressive.
The group captured eight first-place awards (state champions), and set six state records. They also earned three first-place finishes among teams and they all set state records as well in the four-person traditional recurve team, four-person fita barebow team and husband and wife traditional recurve team with Archery Zone owners Ed and Janine Krystofosky.
The two-day championship was held April 5 and 6 in Harrisburg and more than 550 shooters from across the state competed. Most of The Archery Zone’s members competed with recurve bows.
“I’m thrilled,” said Ed Krystofosky, who himself is a former state champion. “We competed in this for years and this is the best we ever did. It will be hard to beat this next year, but we are going back to try.”
The Archery Zone is looking for more compound and recurve shooters to go with them to next year’s championship. Stop by The Archery Zone for more information or to get started on practicing with instructor Jerry Gronchick. For more information visit www.thearcheryzone.com or call 570-287-1421.
