For all the parents of young children who feel overwhelmed at times, relax. It could be worse. Consider the hen turkey in this trail camera photo sent in by Camille Daniels from the Mountain Top area. The picture was taken on July 2 and shows 16 poults (count them, there may be more) trailing the hen.
A hen turkey usually lays between eight and 15 eggs, so the fact that this hen successfully hatched 16 poults is amazing. It appears she is doing a good job, to, judging by the large size of the poults as they meander down the dirt lane.
It must be quite a spot for wildlife young, as a few days earlier Daniels’ trail camera snapped the picturesque summer scene of a doe and her fawn walking the trail in the late afternoon sun.
Capture anything interesting on your hand-held or trail camera? A nice buck, bear, coyote or any other wildlife? We’d love to see it. Each week, we’ll run photos from a reader’s trail camera on the Sunday Outdoors page. Email your photo, along with date and area it was taken (township is fine), and any other details to email@example.com.
