NANTICOKE — Kelsey Williams scored half of Nanticoke’s game total and
pulled down 10 rebounds to power the Trojanettes past Wyoming Valley West
60-53 Saturday night in Wyoming Valley Conference girls basketball.
   
Alicia Kempinski added 12 points and 11 rebounds for the winners.
    For Valley West, Janette Pieczynski scored 15 points and Colleen Butcher
had 14.

HAZLETON — Carlene Kratz scored six of her eight points in overtime as
Bishop Hoban defeated Hazleton Area.
   
Hazleton Area had a chance to win in regulation, but missed a layup and two
free throws with 3 seconds left. The Cougars played without leading scorer
Megan LaBuda, who will likely miss the rest of the WVC season with a sprained
ankle.
   
Sarah Pipech led Hoban with 14. Taryn Fischi added 13. Amanda Peabody and
Alexis Falvello had 12 each for Hazleton Area.
