TO HOSPITALS

Crashes on both sides of the Susquehanna River kept police and rescue
personnel busy Friday.

A two-car crash at the intersection of Parrish and Hazle streets in
Wilkes-Barre sent Anna Naugle and her passenger, Agnes Endler, to Mercy
Hospital in Wilkes-Barre. Hospital officials said Naugle, of Sambourne Street,
was listed in serious condition and Endler was listed as stable.
Police said Naugle was driving east on Parrish Street at about 8:45 a.m.
when her car entered the intersection and collided with Raymond Fenner’s
vehicle. Fenner of Chestnut Street was traveling south on Hazle Street,
according to police. Both drivers claimed to have the green light, police
said.

Rescue personnel had to remove Naugle from the wreckage. Fenner was not
injured.

The accident report did not indicate if any of the occupants were wearing
seat belts.

Police also reported four crashes in Kingston, one which sent a driver to
Nesbitt Memorial Hospital at about 9:20 a.m.

The most serious crash involved two cars at Pierce Street and Tioga Avenue.

Separate crashes on Northampton Street and Market Street produced injuries.

The fourth collision occurred around 6:45 p.m. at Market Street and Sprague
Avenue.

The names of the people involved and the details of the crashes were not
available because police had not completed their reports.

In another accident, George W. Prigge, 52, of Mountaintop told police he
was injured when a deer jumped into the passenger window of his Cadillac sedan
while he was heading north on Route 309 in Butler Township at about 12:30 p.m.

The deer’s impact caused the driver’s window to blow out, police said.

Prigge declined medical treatment. His passengers, Spencer Smith, 51, of
Western Springs, Ill., and Jeffrey Cook, 33, of Drums, were not injured.

The car sustained moderate damage, police said.
