WILKES-BARRE – Police on Friday confirmed the identity of a woman found
dead in a room at the Red Carpet Inn on Jan. 8.

Cindy Ward, 42, of Tennessee, also used a number of aliases, including
Tammy Ann Carter, said Luzerne County Coroner Dr. George Hudock Jr. on
Saturday. Police in Tennessee had a matching fingerprint under the Carter
alias in connection with an arrest, he said.
Ward will be buried Monday in a plot for unclaimed bodies at Oak Lawn
Cemetery, Hanover Township. Officials have not been able to sort out a more
suitable arrangement with her family, including an ex-husband, two aunts and a
daughter stationed in the Persian Gulf.

The cause of her death has not been determined, Hudock said. There were no
visible signs of trauma to the body, which was found by hotel staff.
Toxicology tests are due in several weeks, Hudock said.
