Ross Danzig (Clarks Green/Abington Heights/Blair Academy-NJ), a junior guard on The University of Scranton men’s basketball team, added another award to an already-impressive resume. Only this time, he was honored for his exploits in the classroom.
Danzig was one of five players selected to the District IV all-Academic team as voted upon by the members of the College Sports Information Directors of America (CoSIDA).
To qualify, a student-athlete must be at least a sophomore, be a key starter or reserve, and maintain a cumulative grade point average of 3.3-or-higher. All honorees from the eight districts across the nation are now eligible for Academic All-America honors.
Danzig holds a 3.37 grade point average in management. A two-time Landmark Conference Academic Honor Roll recipient, he has been named to the University’s Dean List three times.
On the court, he earned the Landmark Conference Player of the Week award five times (Nov. 17, Dec. 8, Dec. 15, Dec. 22, Jan. 27), along with being named the most valuable player (MVP) of three tournaments: the Radisson Invitational (Nov. 15-16), PNC Bank Royal Rumble (Dec. 16-17), and the third annual Cross County Challenge (Jan. 3-4), which he shared with Marywood University’s Shane Kelleher.
