Abington Heights graduate and University of Scranton junior Justin Klingman played a key role in the success of the Royals men’s basketball team this past season.
The Royals, who were defeated by Hobart in the first round of the Division III NCAA Tournament, finished the season with a 24-4 record and won the Landmark Conference title. It was the best record in head coach Carl Danzig’s 12-year tenure.
Klingman came off the bench early in the season and moved into the starting lineup for the final 17 games. He shot 56.5 percent on 3-pointers, (65 for 115), which broke the school’s season record for 3-point percentage in a season, previously held by Al Callejas (.541%).
Klingman led the Landmark Conference in 3-point shooting percentage and would have had the highest percentage in the country across all NCAA’s levels, but was five shots shy of qualifying.
