HERSHEY — Freshmen Ryan Tracy tied for third place and received Rookie of the Year honors as the King’s College golf team placed fourth in the Freedom Conference Championships that concluded Sunday at the Hershey Country Club.
Tracy, a Pittston Area graduate, fired a 77 on the par-71, 6,551-yard course, just third player in the field to shoot under 80 on Sunday. Combined with his Saturday score of 85, Tracy carded a 162 to tie Ryan Torresin of Eastern for third place. The showing was good enough to earn top rookie honors after a vote of conference coaches.
Wilkes’ Matt Kachurak finished second with a two-day total of 158. The Colonels placed seventh in the team standings.
Misericordia finished fifth with two-day total of 688, 14 shots behind first-place Eastern. Nick Kenna (85-84) and Josh Green (88-81) finished tied for ninth at 169 for the Cougars.
King’s freshman Corey Palma also earned all-conference honors by tying for ninth place with a two-day score of 169. Palma shot an 80 on Sunday.
As a team, King’s fired a Sunday-best 332 to finish with an overall score of 682. Freshman Shamus Gartley was tied for 15th with a 85-87-172
Wilkes sweeps Marywood
Meghan Kisela pitched a complete game, limiting Marywood to four hits as Wilkes prevailed 4-0 in the nightcap.
Kisela was also 2-for-4 at the plate with an RBI. Brooke Limeberry knocked in two runs.
Wilkes won the opener 4-1. Jordan Borger had a double and single for Wilkes. Alysha Bixler added two hits to the 10-hit attack.
PSU Hazleton posts sweep
Krystin Baker, Megan McHugh and Kim Reiser all had two RBI as PSU Hazleton defeated PSU Beaver 13-10 in the opener.
Erin Dougherty had three RBI as PSU Hazleton rolled to a 12-0 in in the nightcap.
Misericordia 13, Wesley 10
Misericordia overcame an early deficit to defeat Wesley College on Senior Appreciation Day.
Misericordia trailed 5-1 in the top of the third before scoring four times to tie the score at 5-5.
Mike Comerford then gave the Cougars an 8-5 lead with a three-run blast over the right field wall in the bottom of the fourth.
Wilkes splits with PSU Harrisburg
Pinch runner Kevin Klatt scored the winning run on a balk in the sixth inning, giving Wilkes a 4-3 win in the second game of a doubleheader. Dan Pisanchyn was 2-for-3 with an RBI for Wilkes.
Bobby O’Keefe, Tanner Smith and Joshua Slocum all had two hits in the opener as Wilkes fell 10-3.
PSU Beaver 13, PSU Hazleton 3
Aaron Glass was 3-for-3 with two RBI for PSU Hazleton.
