Wilkes Barre Racing hosts trail run
Wilkes Barre Racing is hosting the Pocono Xterra Earth Conservancy Half Marathon Trail Run Saturday at 10 a.m. in Mocanaqua.
All proceeds from the race will go to support foster care and adoption in NEPA.
Among the participants will be 10K National Trail Running Champion David Roche. Roche recently broke the Rothrock Challenge Course record by seven minutes and is generally regarded as the best trail runner in America. The Earth Conservancy Race features a 800-foot vertical climb (encountered in the first 1.5 miles of the course). Unlike “Tough Mudders” and similar obstacle course races, trail running is just that - pure running over the toughest terrain imaginable. The Pocono Xterra Trail series is finishing its fourth season and has sent numerous athletes to the Xterra National and World Trail Running Championships.
