Pittston Township gunned down the would-be tying run at the plate to preserve a 6-5 win over Pittston City in a District 16 Little League minor baseball game on Friday.


Anthony Cencetti struck out six in five innings for the win. Cencetti, J.J. Walsh, Sean Connors, Matt Cocco and Jimmy Spindler led Township at the plate.


Ethan Ghannam, Eric Pisack and Cole Ferranti all had two hits apiece for Pittston City.


Nanticoke 12,


South Wilkes-Barre 1


Derek Sease, Justin Spencer and Nick Matson combined on a two-hitter to give Nanticoke a four-inning win. Sease helped his own cause by hitting his first home run and added with a two-run double. Matson, Collin Piestrak, Spencer, and Devyn Sura all had hits for Nanticoke.


Jake John and Derrick Comacho both had singles for South Wilkes-Barre.


Plains 13, Jenkins Twp. 3

Plains exploded with offense from hits by Rob Watkins, Ryan Novakowski, Conner Kane and Andrew Smigiel in the victory. Novakowski picked up the win as Steve Simko and Joe Monahan all had an RBI for Plains. Braeden Cook and Sawyer Koretz also had multiple hits for Plains.


Matt Johnson and Harry Pugliese each had an RBI as Vinnie Vonomo singled and scored a run for Jenkins Township.


From Thursday


Back Mountain National 15,


Bob Horlacher 5


Pitcher E.J. Williams struck out three, hit a double and had three RBI in the winning effort for Back Mountain National.


Dylan Wesley also had two hits, including a home home run and four RBI. Justin James, Bobby Lugiano and Dan Meuser also had hits for National.


Zack Capitano had two hits and Andrew Martin had an RBI for Bob Horlacher.


Jenkins Twp. 3, Duryea 2


Brandon Constantino knocked in the game winning run as Jenkins Twp. prevailed over Duryea. Pitcher Matt Lanzendorser went the distance by giving up only three hits. Nick Scavo, Cameron Kohut and Lanzendorser all had two hits for Jenkins Twp.


Matt Rinaldi and John McGlynn each had a hit for Duryea.


Northwest 16, Swoyersville 4


Ethan Adams ended the game with a walk-off grand slam in the fifth inning to secure the Northwest victory. Winning pitcher Matt Saxe gave up a hit and also clubbed two home runs with five RBI. DeAndre Farmer and Kristian Burke each had two hits for Northwest.


John Sarris had the only hit for Swoyersville with a double.


SENIOR LEGION

Tunkhannock 12, Wilkes-Barre 1


Lance Sherry had a big day at the plate going 3 for 3 with three runs scored in a five-inning Tunkhannock victory. Josh McClain also added to the offensive outburst with three RBI.


Ryan Kaslavage and Scott Roper had the only two hits for Wilkes-Barre.
