MOOSIC- Josh Featherman allowed four hits, no runs and struck out four in a complete game shutout to lead Coughlin to a 3-0 victory over Wyoming Area Sunday at PNC Field.

Dave Marriggi and Kyle Lupas each recorded a hit and an RBI to lead the Coughlin offense. Dave Parnsnick also added a hit for Couhglin.

Nick O’Brien had two hits, including a double to lead Wyoming Area. Mike Carey and Jordan Zezza added one hit apiece for Wyoming Area.

COLLEGE BASEBALL Wilkes 14, Marywood 7

Bobby Schappell and Stephen Ruch smacked five hits apiece as Wilkes University cruised to a victory over Marywood University Sunday at Artillery Park.

Ruch added three RBI and a home run to lead the Colonels in their offensive onslaught.

Scott Skammer, Adam Mislura and Tom Ring each chipped in three hits.

Joe Dantas also added two hits and three RBI, while Zak Berg chipped in one hit and two RBI.

Mislura earned the victory on the mound, allowing six hits, three earned runs and striking out five in five innings of work.

Misericordia sweeps doubleheader

Misericordia University compiled 27 hits as the Cougars swept Eastern University 9-2, 10-2 in a doubleheader Sunday.

Andrew Tressa, Kyle Lindsay, Steve Sulcoski, Joe Tagliarini and Connor Moriarty each had two hits for Misericordia in the opener.

Tressa added three more hits in the second game, while Lindsay, Sulcoski, Moriarty and Mike Impellittiere each chipped in two.

Evan Robaczewski pitched all seven innings for the Cougars in the first game, allowing three hits, no eanred runs and striking out 10.

Will Minderjahn earned the victory in the second game, allowing six hits, two runs and striking out six in six innings of work.

King’s drops pair

Anthony Lizzi compiled two hits and two RBI as King’s College lost both games of a doubleheader Sunday 5-3 and 4-3 to FDU-Florham.

Lizzi hit an RBI single in the fourth inning of the opener to cut the deficit to one run before an error in the seventh knotted the game at three.

King’s forced the game into extra innings but couldn’t complete the comeback, losing 5-3 in 11 innings.

Rob Lemoncelli led the Monarchs on offense in game two with two hits and an RBI, but King’s couldn’t overcome another early deficit, losing 4-3.


Misericordia earns split

Misericordia University dropped the opener in a doubleheader against York College 9-8 before rebounding in game two to earn a 3-1 victory and a split.

The extra-inning loss in game one snapped the Cougars’ eight-game winning streak.

Jess Armillay led Misericordia in game two with a complete game from the circle. Armillay allowed one run, seven hits and struck out one in the victory.

Whitney Ellenberg recorded one hit and two RBI to lead the Cougars in game two, while Megan Gowe added two hits and one RBI.


Miseri 7, Marywood 2

Michelle Cameron, Breanne Phillips and Brittany Bressler all earned wins in singles and doubles matches as the Misericordia women’s tennis team defeated Colonial State Athletic Conference champion Marywood University Sunday at the Misericordia Tennis Complex.

Emily Boro, Emily Hullings and Bressler each won their singles matches in three sets.

The teams of Cameron and Cassie Foy and Phillips and Bressler each won their doubles matches as the Cougars won two of three in doubles play.

NYU 5, Wilkes 4

Wilkes University won two of three doubles matches as New York University snapped the Lady Colonels’ seven-match winning streak Sunday.

Melanie Nolt and Amanda Holyk earned the lone victories in singles matches for Wilkes.

Holyk also teamed up with Olivia Hewison to win a doubles match 8-2.

With the loss, the Lady Colonels’ dropped to 13-2 on the season.


NYU 6, Wilkes 3

Brendon Blachowski won a singles match and teamed up with Clarke Freeman for a doubles match victory to lead Wilkes University in its loss to New York University.

Steven Wilsom and Alex Makos added a doubles victory for the Colonels in the loss.
