Maggie Sohns was one of five players honored by the FDU-Florham field hockey team prior to a 4-0 victory over King’s in a MAC Freedom contest on Saturday.

The 5-foot-4 midfielder from Tunkhannock has helped the Devils post a 15-2 overall record and a 6-0 mark in league play. She has six goals and a league-high 15 assists for 27 points with two game winners. Two times she has recorded three assists in a game.

“Maggie is an exceptional field hockey player and person,” first-year coach Maura Johnston said. “Her on-field leadership is evident to anyone watching the game. She is the kind of player who makes the athletes around her better. Her maturity and will to win sets her apart.”

Sohns earned All-MAC Freedom first team honors the past two seasons and was on the second team as a freshman. She was also an ECAC first-team choice and earned National Field Hockey Coaches Association All-Region second team, with both honors coming last season.

“I feel incredibly luck to have Maggie as a leader in my first year with FDU,” Johnston said.
