WILKES-BARRE — City police said two children, ages 3 and 6, were found wandering on North Pennsylvania Avenue without supervision early Sunday morning.

Police responded to the area and spoke with two people who found the two children at about 1:10 a.m. Both children were wearing no shoes and pants, police said.

Police said the children did not know where they lived and were turned over to Luzerne County Children and Youth Services.

Police located the children’s residence that they say was in deplorable conditions with broken glass on the floor. Two children in the residence were turned over to a family member, police said.

Police said the parents were taken into custody.

No charges have been filed as of Monday against the parents.
