SIGNATURES MADE CANDIDACY REALITY DONATIONS WILL SERVE KIDS WELL LOVED
ONE HAD OUTSTANDING CARE POOL STAFF IS CREDIT TO COMMUNITYOn behalf of the
Plymouth Jr. American Legion baseball team (consisting of players from the
Wyoming Valley West School District), we would like to thank those businesses
and charitable organizations who contributed financial help to the team. This
enabled the boys to participate in the Jr. Legion Regional and State
Tournaments. We would also like to thank the many people who contributed to
our bucket-drop campaign to help raise funds. The team finished second at
regionals, qualifying for the state playoffs where they finished fifth. Again,
our sincere thanks.

We would also like to thank the North Parkland Athletic Association
(Allentown) for the their outstanding work in hosting the regional tournament
from July 20 to July 24. Congratulations on a job well done. Also we extend
thanks and congratulations to the Boyertown Midget Baseball League who were
the hosts for the state tournament from July 24 to July 31. They did a super
job organizing and running the championship playoffs. The team and coaches
enjoyed a great time at both events.I just wanted to say thanks to the
organizers of the Northeast Fair. The North Branch Land Trust (www.nblt.org)
was given a free booth in the “Horticulture” area of the fair, and it was
great exposure for us. The entire fair staff and travelling crew (especially
Horticulture chair Marla Roskos) was wonderful. Not only did we raise
awareness about our cause – preservation of open space and community in
Northeastern Pennsylvania – but we enticed at least one landowner to consider
permanently protecting his property from development.

The land trust isn’t against development, we’re for “smart growth.” We
help people, communities, and developers learn to protect the precious places
in Northeast Pa. that support our rural and agricultural traditions, while
supporting visioning and community planning efforts to properly guide economic
growth. We hope you will come to know us better.

Over the next few months, NBLT has many events and educational seminars
planned – check our Web site or call us at (570) 696 5545 to find out more.
We’d love to have your support!

Projects with a Purpose LLCI would like to thank the over 2,000 Democratic,
Republican and independent registered voters who supported the placing of my
name on the November ballot as a candidate for the U.S. House of
Representatives. There were voters from all five counties in the 11th
Congressional District among those who signed my nomination paper forms.

The signatures on the nomination papers for minor party and independent
candidates do not signify support for that candidate but simply signify that
those registered voters believe that candidate has the right to appear on the
November ballot.

I thank all of you for being fair-minded. I had the opportunity to discuss
issues with many of you and I thank you for your time and your interest.

I would especially like to thank those who went the extra step and
collected signatures for my candidacy. That show of support is greatly
appreciated.

We were unable to file the proper paperwork in Harrisburg prior to the
Monday deadline due to some last minute technical problems with some completed
petitions in Lackawanna County. I was hoping for a head-to-head race against
incumbent Congressman Paul Kanjorski. Unfortunately it will not happen in this
election.

BartonsvilleWe, at Big Brothers Big Sisters of The Bridge, would like to
take the time to thank the Cooperative Vacation School of West Pittston for
their generous cash donation and donation of book bags and school supplies to
our program. Children that attended a recent Vacation Bible School brought in
various items to help fill the backpacks before they were to be donated. Their
kind gestures will greatly benefit the children in our program.

The bags and materials donated will make the school shopping easier for the
families we serve, and the kindness of these children will impact the children
in our program as they prepare to return to school.

We would like to thank the following churches individually: First United
Methodist, First Presbyterian, Second Presbyterian, First Congregational,
Shoemaker Chapel, Immaculate Conception Catholic, and Trinity Episcopal.

Once again, thank you. Together we can make a difference in the lives of
children.

Big Brothers Big Sister of the BridgeThe family of Gertrude (Geppie) Smith
wishes to thank the physicians, nurses and personnel of the Mercy Hospital in
Wilkes-Barre for the extraordinary care rendered on her behalf. Everyone who
was involved with Geppie demonstrated the combination of competence and
compassion that elevates health care from a profession to a true vocation.

We want to express particular gratitude to Dr. David Moore for his tireless
efforts throughout her illness. Again, many thanks.

Mountain TopI love the summer. Love to swim, lay in the sun … and I love
the Kingston Pool. Sad to say (really it is!), this hasn’t been the best of
summers. As a patron of the pool, I just want to take this opportunity to
mention the lifeguards and staff at the Kingston Pool. What a great bunch,
including the crew at the snack bar. They’re kind, friendly and great with the
kids. I overheard a 5-year-old say to his buddy “let’s ask the lifeguards …
they know lots of stuff.”

They never let their “guard” down making sure we are all safe. Even when
it is overcast cloudy … everyone has a “sunny” hello, “hey!” I know a
lot of us feel this way. Thank you!
