Joseph G. Kane Sr., of Anne Street, Mountain Top, died Thursday at the Hospice Community Care Unit of Geisinger South Wilkes-Barre.
Born Nov. 29, 1924, in Sugar Notch, he was the son of the late James A. and Anna Harvey Kane.
He was a graduate of Sugar Notch High School.
He was an Army Veteran of World War II and formerly employed by Acme Markets and Penn Fern Oil Co.
He retired from the Chevron Gas Station, located on the corner of Union and North Washington streets in Wilkes-Barre. He was a member of St. Nicholas Church, Wilkes-Barre, its Holy Name Society and St. Conrad’s Society, Wilkes-Barre.
He was a 4th degree and Grand Knight of Council 302, Knights of Columbus, Wilkes-Barre, and a committee member for Boy Scout Troop 43, Wilkes-Barre.
He was preceded in death by sisters, Nancy Rakowski, Joan Kane; brothers, James A. Kane, William Kane and Leo Kane.
Mr. Kane is survived by his wife, the former Rose Mary Kilcullen; daughters, Patricia A. and her husband Eugene Hahn Mountain Top; Mary Rose and her husband Jack Knelly Milton; sons, Joseph G. Kane Jr. and his wife, Lisa, Peoria, Ariz.; Charles P. Kane and his wife, Mercedes, Weston, Fla.; grandchildren, Mrs. Christine M. (Hahn) Proffitt, Mrs. Theresa A. (Hahn) Amory, Mr. Eugene J. Hahn, Ms. Susan E. Hahn, Mary Jo Knelly, Mrs. Colleen (Knelly) Franciscus, Mrs. Shirley (Knelly) Ocasio, John W. Knelly IV, Mrs. Stephanie (Kane) DiDomenico, Joseph S. Kane, Deanna Kane, Paul J. Kane, Connor C. Kane, Conrad C. Kane; great-grandchildren, Katie M. Hahn, Sarah Franciscus, Isaiah Franciscus, Emma R. Kane, Ayanna Ocasio; brother, Robert Kane, Spring Hill, Fla.; several nieces and nephews.

Funeral will be held at 9:30 a.m. Monday from Mamary-Durkin Funeral Services, 59 Parrish St., Wilkes-Barre, with a Mass of Christian Burial at 10 a.m. in St. Nicholas Church, Wilkes-Barre. Interment will be in in Memorial Shrine Cemetery, Carverton. Friends may call Sunday 2 to 5 p.m.
