Dawn Marie Beatty and John Joseph Long were united in marriage Sept. 20, 2013, at St. Jude Parish, Mountain Top. The ceremony was officiated by the Rev. Joseph Evanko.
The bride is the daughter of David and Nancy Beatty, Mountain Top. She is the granddaughter of the late Clair and Alma Beatty and the late Edward and Pauline Bowman, all formerly of Altoona.
The groom is the son of John and Angnes Long, Wapwallopen. He is the grandson of Agnes Bedner, Mountain Top; the late John Bedner; and the late John and Josephine Long, formerly of Bear Creek.
The bride, given in marriage by her father, chose her cousin Anne Bidaut as matron of honor. Bridesmaids were Ashlei Kishel, friend of the bride; Kayla Beatty, niece of the bride; and Danielle Glotfelty, childhood friend of the bride.
Jason Long, brother of the groom, served as best man. Groomsmen were Justin Long, brother of the groom, and Dave Beatty, brother of the bride.
Music for the ceremony was by David Baloga and scriptural readings were given by Janet Shebelock, friend of the bride, and Sally Yeager and Dianne Sommer, cousins of the bride.
The reception was held at Edgewood in the Pines, Drums. The bride was honored at a bridal shower hosted by her matron of honor, mother and bridal party.
Dawn is a 1991 graduate of Crestwood High School. She earned an associate’s degree in human services from Luzerne County Community College and a bachelor’s degree from Bloomsburg University. She is employed by Lord & Taylor as a customer care representative.
John is a 1996 graduate of Coughlin High School and earned a bachelor’s degree in communications from Wilkes University. He is employed by RCN as a telesales representative.
The couple went to Bermuda on their honeymoon in September. They reside in Exeter.
