Maura LaRue Culkin and Shawn David Skelton were united in marriage Aug. 17, 2013, at Our Lady of Snows Church in Clarks Summit. The ceremony was officiated by Father Paul Mullen and the Rev. Rebecca Zartman.
The bride is the daughter of Michael and Mary Culkin, Mountain Top. She is the granddaughter of the late George and Agnes Laputka, Hazelton, and the late Stewart and Marion Culkin, Scranton.
The groom is the son of Eric and Sharon Skelton, South Grafton, Mass. He is the grandson of Arlie and Yvonne Skelton, Rocklin, Calif., and the late Harold and Miriam Watkins, Vallejo, Calif.
The bride was given in marriage by her father. She was attended by her sister and maid of honor Megan Culkin, and bridesmaids Colleen Cappellini, Anne Marie Forney, Whitney Lacsina, Kari Simon, Lisa Tobin, Agatha Well, and Jennifer Zurek. Maddison and Eliana Skelton, nieces of the groom, were flower girls.
Kevin Skelton, brother of the groom, served as best man. Groomsmen were Patrick Skelton, brother of the groom, and longtime friends Sherod Eubanks and Jack Funk. Matthew Skelton, nephew of the groom, served as the ring bearer.
Music for the ceremony was provided by David Baloga and Alyssa Golden. Readings were given by Eric Skelton, father of the groom, and Melanie Laputka, cousin of the bride. The reception was held at the Country Club of Scranton, Clarks Summit.
Maura is a graduate of Bishop Hoban High School. She earned a Bachelor of Arts degree in English literature with minor concentrations in Spanish language and creative writing from Gettysburg College. She is pursuing a master’s degree in speech-language pathology at Misericordia University.
Shawn is a graduate of Joel E. Ferris High School. He earned a Bachelor of Science degree in computer science with minor concentrations in physics and mathematics from Eastern Washington University. He is employed as a software developer by Information Concepts, Herndon, Va.
The couple went to Saint Thomas on their honeymoon in August. They reside in Harveys Lake.
