MARY BEEHLER, RN, 79, of Tobyhanna, Pa., died on Tuesday, June 9, 2009, at Mercy Hospital in Scranton. She was the wife of John K. Beehler, to whom she was married for 55 years. Born in West Wyoming, Aug. 15, 1929, she was a daughter of the late Ralph and Mary Charney. She was a 1947 graduate of West Wyoming High School and a 1950 graduate of Mercy School of Nursing in Scranton. Mary met her husband, John, at Hahnemann Hospital (now Community Medical Center) while serving as a nurse in the emergency room when John’s father was a patient. During her nursing career, Mary worked at Doctors’ Hospital in Philadelphia, Hahnemann Hospital in Scranton, and Pocono Hospital in East Stroudsburg. She was also the camp nurse for Camp Tegawitha. Mary retired from nursing in 1985. She served as the choir director and organist at St. Ann’s Catholic Church in Tobyhanna for 40 years. Mary loved life, music, family, church and people. She was very kind and always thought of others first. She was a loving wife, mother, grandmother, daughter, sister, nurse, friend and colleague. She was predeceased by her sister, Catherine Bubblo. In addition to her husband, John, she is survived by a daughter, Eloise Beehler, of Tobyhanna; a son and daughter-in-law, Drs. John M. and Pamela Beehler, of Union, Ky.; and her granddaughter, Kristin Beehler, a senior cadet and co-captain of the Army Women’s Tennis Team at the U.S. Military Academy at West Point; brothers Leonard Charney, of West Pittston; Ralph Charney, of Garfield Heights, Ohio; Joseph Charney, of Wilmington, Del.; and Patrick Charney, of Forty Fort; sisters Justina Charney, of West Wyoming; Theresa Gonglefski, of Swoyersville; and Agnes Olah, of West Wyoming.

Funeral was held from the Bolock Funeral Home, corner of Routes 940 & 390 in Paradise Valley. The Rev. Father Richard Ghezzi celebrated a Mass of Christian Burial on Saturday in St. Ann’s Church in Tobyhanna. Interment was at St. Paul’s Cemetery in Swiftwater, Pa.

MINNIE DAVIS LICCIARDONE, 91, of Old Forge, died Friday, June 12, 2009, in Moses Taylor Hospital. Her husband, Charles Licciardone, died in 1992. Born in Independence, Mo., she was a daughter of the late John R. and Rachel Wingfield Davis. Prior to her retirement, Minnie worked as a bookkeeper for G. Weinberger & Co. She was preceded in death by a brother, Harry Davis; and sisters, Elizabeth Lane and Helen Holder. Surviving are daughters, Matilda Licciardone and Charlene Luzio; a son, John Licciardone; a sister-in-law, Lillian Cusumano, all of Old Forge; four grandchildren; nieces and nephews.

MARILYN ROBOCHIK, 54, of Taylor, passed away Sunday, June 14, 2009. Her husband of 23 years is Jack Robochik. She was born in Moosic, on September 3, daughter of the late Bernard J. and Claire Conslato Miller Schneck. As a member of the U.S. Air Force, she had met her first husband, James F. Neberman, who was later killed in action. She was preceded in death by sister, Elizabeth A. Smith, on June 7; brothers Jeffrey and Bernard. She is survived by daughter Marissa and her sons, James, Matthew and Jonathan; sisters Linda and Claire; brother Bill.

NICK DELEO, 80, of Dalton, Falls Township, passed away Monday morning, June 15, 2009, in the same house he was born. Born on March 14, 1929, he was a son of the late Nick and Grace Deleo. Nick married Eleanor Walsh Deleo on April 21, 1979. He worked as a batch man for Wyoming Sand and Stone; he was also the owner of Deleo’s Bar. He graduated from Tunkhannock Area, Class of 1945. Surviving besides his wife, are his sons, Nicholas, of Scranton; Delbert, Robert and Kristopher, of Pittston; and Jeff, of Glendale; daughters Lorna and Sally, of Glen Lyon; sister Rose, of Clarks Summit; 28 grandchildren; 27 great-grandchildren, and two more on the way; also several nieces and nephews.

ANN BUTLER CAPPELLONI, a resident of Holy Family Residence, formerly of South Scranton, died Sunday morning, June 14, 2009. Her husband of 60 years, Frank Cappelloni, died in 2005. The last surviving member of her immediate family, she attended St. John the Evangelist Grade School, South Scranton, and graduated from Scranton Technical High School, where she was salutatorian, Class of 1934. During World War II, she was employed as a sales clerk at the Scranton Dry Goods Company, and later for ICS/Intext, retiring in 1982. A lifelong member of St. Francis of Assisi Parish, Scranton, she was a former president of the Altar and Rosary Society, sang in the choir and was chairwoman of the church’s famous spaghetti dinner. After retirement, she volunteered with several local service organizations and enjoyed endless Saturday nights of pinochle with close friends. After family, her home was a source of pride, where cleaning was a badge of honor. It was a place of welcome for family, friends and her children’s friends. Her table was always set with an abundance of food, lovingly prepared and graciously serviced. She leaves to family and friends countless memories of holidays and celebrations replete with good food, shared generously with those she loved. She was a devoted and loving wife and a proud mother who took endless joy in her grandchildren. Her great-grandchildren were also a source of endless delight. She had a special interest in the lives of her children and grandchildren, closely following their academics, sports and recreational pursuits. In every member of her family, she instilled a sense of self-worth and achievement. Quitting was never an option. She firmly believed that with hard work and perseverance, one could achieve the best hopes and goals of their life. She passed gently from this world into the arms of her savior, Jesus Christ. At Holy Family Residence, she was under the loving care of the Little Sisters of the Poor. She was preceded in death by sister Mary Butler Golden; four brothers, Patrick, Joseph, Frank and Aloysius. Surviving are two sons, Frank and wife, Carol, Scranton; the Rev. Thomas, pastor of Our Lady of Grace Church, Hazleton; daughter Mary Ann Folk and husband, Dr. Jeff Folk, Moosic; six grandchildren, Mara Cappelloni, Philadelphia; Cory Cappelloni and wife, Lucia, Atlanta, Ga.; Brant Cappelloni and wife, Nicole, Pittsburgh; and Kristen, Lauren and Christopher Folk; three great-grandchildren, Gabrielle and Christopher, both of Pittsburgh, and most recently, Emma Cappelloni, Atlanta, Ga.

The funeral was held Thursday in St. Francis of Assisi Church, celebrated by her son, the Rev. Thomas Cappelloni; her cousin, the Rev. David P. Cappelloni, served as homilist and Monsignor Philip A. Gray, host pastor. Entombment was in Italian-American Cemetery Mausoleum, Scranton.
