Marissa Christina Salvo and Jeffrey Seth Korn were united in marriage on June 29, 2013, at St. Joseph Marello Parish, Our Lady of Mt. Carmel Church, Pittston, officiated by the Rev. Joseph Sibliano, OSJ.
The bride is the daughter of Mr. and Mrs. Charles T. Salvo, Pittston Township. She is the granddaughter of Theresa Rachkowski and the late Joseph Rachkowski, Duryea, and the late Charles and Carmella Salvo, Pittston Township.
The groom is the son of Mr. Jerry Korn, Berlin, Connecticut, and Ms. Leisa DiPreta Bell, New Canaan, Connecticut. He is the grandson of Leonard and Marilyn DiPreta, Stamford, Connecticut, and the late Elias and Caecilia Korn.
The bride was given in marriage by her parents. She chose Stephanie Anderson, West Hartford, Connecticut, best friend, as maid of honor. Bridesmaids were Melissa Wilson, Glastonbury, Connecticut, friend of the bride; Maria Orloski, Dupont, friend of the bride; and Amy Korn, Fairfield, Connecticut, and Megan Rodriguez, Oxford, Connecticut, sisters of the groom.
The groom chose, Justin Higney, Chesire, Connecticut, best friend, as best man. Groomsmen were Richard Harrison, New Milford, Connecticut, friend of the groom; Glenn Higney, North Windham, Connecticut, friend of the groom; and Charles Salvo, Pittston Township, brother of the bride.
Scripture readings were given by Amy Korn and Megan Rodriguez, sisters of the groom, and Charles Salvo, brother of the bride. Offertory gifts were presented by Lorraine Farrell, godmother of the bride, and Laura DiPreta, godmother of the groom.
The bride was honored at a bridal shower given by her mother at Fox Hill Country Club, Exeter. Bridesmaids, Stephanie, Melissa, Amy and Megan, also hosted a bridal shower at Indigo by the Water, Milford, Connecticut. The rehearsal dinner was hosted by the parents and step-mother of the groom at Grico’s Restaurant, Exeter. An evening cocktail hour and reception were held at The Highlands at Newberry Estate, Dallas.
The bride is a graduate of Scranton Preparatory School. She earned a Doctor in Pharmacy and minor in leadership studies from the University of Rhode Island. Dr. Salvo completed a postgraduate pharmacy residency, focusing in ambulatory care, in St. Louis, Missouri, and attained board certification in ambulatory care pharmacy. Dr. Salvo is an assistant clinical professor at the University of Connecticut School of Pharmacy.
The groom is a graduate of Hamden High School, Hamden, Connecticut. He earned a Bachelor of Science in marine affairs with a double minor in leadership studies and human development and family studies from the University of Rhode Island. Mr. Korn earned a Master of Education degree in school counseling from the University of Nevada, Las Vegas. This fall, he will begin an educational leadership program at Sacred Heart University to attain his intermediate administrative certification. Mr. Korn is a school counselor and varsity/junior varsity girls soccer coach at Canton High School, Canton, Connecticut.
For their honeymoon, the couple embarked on a two-week tour of Italy. The couple resides in East Hampton, Connecticut.
