The RailRiders won for the seventh time in their last eight games with a 2-1 win over Durham on Sunday. With the win, Scranton/Wilkes-Barre improves to 19-16 this season and has won six of the seven games on the current eight-game homestand.

RailRiders at the plate: Zelous Wheeler hit a solo homer to account for the first run and Zoilo Almonte’s (2 for 5) bases-loaded single in the 11th won it for SWB, which totaled seven hits.

RailRiders on the mound: Eric Ruth made his Triple-A debut, lasting five innings only allowing two hits, but one was a solo home run and took a no-decision. He also walked three and fanned three. Diego Moreno relieved Ruth and went 2 2/3 innings, allowing three hits. Mark Montgomery finished off the eighth and went a scoreless ninth. The only baserunners he allowed were a pair of walks. Branden Pinder tossed the 10th and 11th to pick up his first Triple-A victory.

Riding the Rails: Sunday’s starter Eric Ruth was just promoted from Charleston on Sunday to replace Chase Whitley, who was a late scratch. Ruth was demoted from Tampa to Charleston on Saturday before getting the call to Scranton/Wilkes-Barre on Sunday. Matt Daley, who had given up just one run in his last 5 1/3 innings, was called up to New York as CC Sabathia was placed on the disabled list. … Durham third baseman Cole Figueroa hit a solo home run in the fifth and was the only batter in the game using a pink bat in honor of Mother’s Day. … The RailRiders had just one at-bat with runners in scoring in position during the game, but it was Almonte’s walk-off single.
