TOLEDO, Ohio —The RailRiders have made a habit of mounting comebacks against Toledo during a four-game set at Fifth Third Field.

Unfortunately for Scranton/Wilkes-Barre, the last two fell short.

After losing a game on Wednesday night by one run when the game was called with the RailRiders having the bases loaded in the top of the eighth and two outs, they overcame a three-run deficit on Thursday, only to lose 7-4 against the Mud Hens. SWB had won the first two games of the series in come-from-behind fashion.

On Thursday afternoon, Toledo got out to a 3-0 lead after two innings against SWB starter Alfredo Aceves, who made his first start for the club since April 28 and lasted just three innings.

Pat Venditte relieved him and tossed a scoreless fourth and fifth inning. After the RailRiders tied the score at 3-3 with run-scoring hits by Rob Refsnyder, Zoilo Almonte and Scott Sizemore in the top of the sixth, Venditte (1-2) came back out for the bottom half and allowed three runs before getting pulled with two outs and Toledo taking a 6-3 lead. The teams exchanged single runs in the eighth.

After an eight-game road trip where the RailRiders went 2-6, they are back at PNC Field tonight at 7 to start a six-game slate when they face Pawtucket. The homestand begins with fireworks after the game. Tomorrow, the RailRiders will give away a Derek Jeter poster to the first 2,500 fans. Sunday is Family FunDay, while Monday is dollar hot dog night and Tuesday is social media night and free T-shirt Tuesday with the first 1,500 fans receiving a free T-shirt. The six-game slate at home concludes on Wednesday with the kids eat free promotion.

When the RailRiders return home tonight, the franchise could welcome back a former star for Scranton/Wilkes-Barre as Boston outfielder Shane Victorino could play for Pawtucket during this series that runs through Monday.

The former 2005 International League MVP for the Red Barons is currently on a rehab assignment with the PawSox. The uncertainty of him playing is that he was supposed to play Thursday against Rochester and sat out the game due to tightness while rehabbing from a hamstring strain.

Tonight the RailRiders will turn to right-hander Joel De La Cruz (2-5, 4.06) pitching, while the Red Sox give the ball to righty Anthony Ranaudo (7-4, 2.58).
